A Rite of Passage
Like the martial arts belts system, Jake Cassar Bushcraft offers levels of learning aimed at building participant's knowledge from beginner to advanced level.
All participants start by attaining their White Patch and then they can go for the next level.
From White Patch where you will learn fundamental bushcraft and survival skills, all the way through to the Black Patch where you will live off the land with no external inputs for 14 days, putting your skills and resilience to the ultimate test.
Over the course of 2 days, participants will learn fundamental bushcraft and survival skills including how to:

forage for edible and medicinal plants in a safe, sustainable and respectful way.

create a friction fire.

build a shelter.

find water in the bush.

tracking techniques.

basic cloud identification and weather prediction skills.

identify different birds from their sounds and characteristics.
Duration: 2 Days
Over the course of 3 days, participants will build on all of the skills and knowledge from the White Patch, while delving deeper into the world of edible and medicinal plants, tracking and survival skills.
Duration: 3 Days
Over 4 days, participants will learn the vital skills for being able to survive in a variety of scenarios. From urban survival to foraging on the coastline, the Green Patch will give you all the tools and knowledge you need to survive indefinitely without access to regular food and medicine.
Duration: 4 Days
This course is a 5 day advanced wilderness first aid and bush medicine course, aimed at empowering participants with the knowledge that they can treat a variety of injuries and ailments with competence and confidence.
Duration: 5 Days
This course is about putting all of the skills you've learned together and applying them in this hands-on week long course. This patch is key to preparation for the ultimate challenge - the Black Patch.
Duration: 7 Days
Participants spend 14 days with Jake, living solely from what can be sustainably and ethically sourced from the local environment.
